The Batangas Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Plant is a planned combined cycle gas plant in Ilijan and Dela Paz Proper, Batangas. With a projected installed capacity of 1,313.1 MW, the plant is a major part of our Company’s portfolio diversification into LNG. Once completed, the Batangas LNG Plant will start its power supply agreement with Meralco to supply 1,200 MW in November 2024.

Joint Venture

The Angat Hydroelectric Power Plant (AHEPP) is a joint-venture asset with Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water), located in the Angat Watershed Forest Reserve in Bulacan. AHEPP has a total generating capacity of 218 MW, comprising of four main units and three auxiliary units. Through our 60% holding stake in the Angat Hydropower Corporation, SMC Global Power undertakes the operations and maintenance of the power plant, while K-Water provides the technical expertise.

Ilijan Power Plant

The 2x600 MW Ilijan Power Plant in Batangas is a combined cycle power plant in Batangas City. The Ilijan Power Plant is the largest natural gas facility in the Philippines. In June 2010, the Company entered an IPPA agreement with the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) Corporation, which enabled SPPC to serve as the administrator of the Ilijan Power Plant. Following the expiration of the Ilijan IPPA Agreement in June 2022, the Ilijan Power Plant was turned over to San Miguel Global Power through its subsidiary, South Premiere Power Corp. (SPPC).

Limay Power Plant

The Limay Power Plant is a 4x150 MW coal-fired thermal power plant that uses Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) technology. As one of our Company’s greenfield power plants, the Limay Power Plant started its commercial operations in May 2017 with the commercial operations of Unit 1. It further expanded its operations with the commercial operations of Units 2, 3, and 4 in September 2017, March 2018, and July 2019, respectively.

Masinloc Power Plant

The Masinloc Power Plant is a coal-fired thermal power plant located in Zambales. The Unit 1 (315 MW) and Unit 2 (344 MW) of the Masinloc Power Plant started operations in 1998, with both units originally developed and owned by the National Power Corporation (NPC). After SMC Global Power acquired the facility from AES Philippines in March 2018, it further expanded its capacity through its Unit 3 (335 MW) which started commercial operations in September 2020.
